ALISON PINK

ALISON PINK

I work as a professional ceramic artist and I teach from both my home studio and a variety of venues; including residential courses at the delightful Sussex West Dean College of Arts & Conservation. Creativity feeds my soul these days.

After school I attended Agricultural College where I studied Veterinary Nursing and later worked as the Senior Nurse in a Veterinary Hospital. After teacher-training I returned to Agricultural College to train Veterinary Nurses.

Animals fascinate me. I later worked in film and television training, handling and maintaining the welfare of a huge variety of creatures. Wanting to stay closer to home I chose clay to create my creatures. The wonderful James Ort taught me his simple armature technique and I use lace, fabric, stamping and 'found' objects to add my signature texture. I've been teaching this method for almost 10 years and love the thrill of seeing all ages and abilities re-united with their fired pieces. I always remind people 'It's JUST mud and imagination !'
